Gone (clip & Lyrics)

(David LK Murphy)
June, 2006
Everyday I wake up, I tie my shoes and see that the ground I've known forever has grown even further from my dreams.

My head spins at the distance, a distance absurd, like my body's just a rope tied to an anchor of hurt.

The letters in my pockets have wrinkled with time. I know the sweetness and the venom behind
every single line.

So I count the words I've written
like a blind man counts his steps
on the way back to a home he couldn't see so he left.

But it's gone, it's gone, it's gone.
It's time to move along.
It's gone, it's gone, it's gone.
It's gone, it's gone, it's gone.

I was born to bleed the chemicals that drive most men insane and I can wrap up with a smile things most men can't contain.

I could exorcise the spirits from any bottle so possessed, you could hear it in my speech and you could smell it on my breath.

I was looking for the body, I was looking for the ghost I was sitting in a graveyard etching tombstones.

So when I die, bury me beneath the apple tree and the dreams that I have had will grow as fruit for you to eat.

But I'm gone. I'll be gone. I'm gone. It's time for you to move along. I'm gone. I'm gone. I'm gone.
I'm gone. I'm gone. I'm gone.

Thank you my friends, for all that you've done but the man that you knew, now is gone.

I'm gone.
